Given that they are headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, it should come as no surprise that Jane N’ The Jungle are more than familiar with unfriendly locations. Their new single, ‘Wasteland’ however, sees them explore a different kind of desert. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

With Brian Dellis playing a mournful, distorted, dirgelike riff on his guitar, Jordan White emotionally brings out all the hopelessness of being caught up in a toxic relationship. Drums continue this reverie, leading a march through the motions, with White’s wailing and Dellis’s solo escalating into a powerful rage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sorrow of ‘Wasteland’ is captured expertly in Jim Louvau and Tony Aguilera’s music video. A sand storm is lit up around the band as they play, and White, with black paint across her eyes, calls to mind the keening women of traditional Irish funerals – writing and wrenching her body in mourning. As the intensity of the song increases, we see quick fire contrasts of hot and cold light, expressing the hostile volatility of a toxic situation. Having fully wrenched herself of all emotions, Jordan walks on through the storm, with her back to the camera. With any luck she is heading to a brighter future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
