Yann Tiersen will embark on a tour like no other when he departs from his home – Ushant, an island off the Breton coast – this summer as he sets sail for a tour of Celtic lands and the Faroe Islands. singular artists proudly present Yann Tiersen\u00a0on his Irish headline tour this June.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Yann Tiersen is an artist who defies categorisation. Don\u2019t be fooled by his once association with the ‘Amelie’ soundtrack. His compositions are a fusion of acoustic and electronic elements, resulting in an otherworldly soundscape that is both emotive and transformative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These dates form the first leg of the Ninnog 2023 tour, which will see Tiersen travelling on his sailboat, Ninnog, along with fellow Breton artist Quinquis (who will not be performing on the Irish dates), with a series of performances in Ireland, Wales, Scotland, England, and the Faroe Islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ninnog is named after a mediaeval mother superior, born in 414 who travelled from Wales to Brittany, becoming a protector of women and a champion of sustainability and forestry, and the tour is intended as a direct political statement on the ecological impact of largescale touring, offering alternative ways of thinking around established methods of touring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ninnog tour has several dates already booked in June, July, August and September, and in addition to Tiersen’s solo headline dates in Cork, Dublin, and Belfast, will see them also perform in Edinburgh and Bangor as well as Liverpool and the Faroe Islands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artists have asked communities to suggest places for them to perform along the route \u2013 churches, communes, pubs, squats, beaches and gardens \u2013 with the aim of offering a new way to experience performance, for both the audience and the artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a manifesto that aims to prioritise interaction and communication, promoting local communities with emphasis on shared experience, the only element that will affect the schedule of the community generated performances that will slot in between the confirmed shows is the wind that will power the boat.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiersen will be performing the following Irish dates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

16th June – Connolly\u2019s of Leap, Cork<\/p>\n\n\n\n

18th June – Live at St. Luke\u2019s, Cork<\/p>\n\n\n\n

24th June – Whelan\u2019s, Dublin<\/p>\n\n\n\n

29th June – Empire, Belfast<\/p>\n\n\n\n
