Bailey Bigger is worthy of her name, a rising light on the country music scene. The artist, signed to Madjack Records, and who is currently touring with Trampled By Turtles, has a new single, Arkansas Is Nice’. Released on 14 April, the track has an old school sound that fans of the likes of Dolly Parton will lap up.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We wrote about Bailey Bigger last year, with her single, ‘You Somehow<\/a>‘, and at the time we were struck by the homespun story she told in the song. Bailey’s clearly very good at telling stories, and although ‘Arkansas Is Nice’ was written over 10 years ago by Mark Edgar Stuart, who also produced it, she has made it her own, singing about how she’d like to move to the West Coast. It’s just a dream though. Everyone – her family, her friends, and even she, thinks it’s nice there, so maybe she’ll just stay in Arkansas. Sure, she’s still got the wanderlust – who knows if she’ll stay there – but for the moment, Arkansas is Nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music is laid back and lazy, with a relaxed style that suits the lyrics well. Guitar, bass, piano, drums, and organ (some brilliant arpeggios in the background), all come together in support of Bailey and her backing vocalist. There’s an element of The Commodores’ song, ‘Easy’ to ‘Arkansas Is Nice’ – whether it be by accident or design – whatever way they make fitting companion tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
