A Scoville Unit is best known as the heat measurement in chilli peppers. The higher the number, the spicier the chilli is. It’s also the name of a New Jersey quartet who make banging pop music that’s off the scale.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The new single from Scoville Unit, ‘Reasons’, is the first track from their new album, ‘See What Can Be’. The group is characterised by its smart, energetic compositions, that bring with them irresistible hooks and tight vocal harmonies. A hark back to the 80s heyday of punk rock, of the sort that found its home on college radio – exciting, different, and memorable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comprising Drew Isleib on bass and vocals, Gandhar Savur on guitar and vocals, lead guitarist Kevin Shelbourne, and Rob Hunsicker on drums, Scoville Unit is as tight as it comes, and new single, ‘Reasons’, delivers current sensibilities with a retro vibe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This tightness is reflected in the music video for ‘Reasons’, directed by Tarana Parekh. A gently humorous clip, we see the band a home, doing the domestic thing, mowing the lawn, making dinner, hanging out on the sofa. But they’re not alone. Joining them is a young woman who seems to be dissatisfied with the efforts (or lack thereof) they’re making around the house. But rather than being senselessly critical, she helps them out – giving advice about their cooking, fixing their guitars, and tidying up the mowing. Behind every good man is an even better woman – and with this woman it’s clear that Scoville Unit must be very good indeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
