Rap duo RPxSB (aka Roddy Picante\u00a0and\u00a0Stay-Bizzy\u00a0aka Rock Plaid and Survive Bullshxt) are from San Francisco, and the pair have teamed up with producer Nomadic for the new and truly inspired album, ‘Shaggy Carpets’. The long player was released on March 10 and is available on all streaming platforms.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

RPxSBs flows naturally because the pair have a genuine and long-standing connection, which comes from the fact they are childhood friends who’ve been through it all. They’ve even shared some of the highlights of their shared experience on ‘Shaggy Carpets’, laid over chilled beats and music. Together with Nomadic, they are able to express some of their skill-sets, with inspiration form the likes of soul, jazz, and vintage hip hop evident in their sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There’s definitely a vintage kind of sound and feel to\u00a0Shaggy Carpets. While still true to\u00a0RPxSB\u00a0form with regards to content and subject nature, the production as a whole done in collaboration with good friend\/colleague Nomadic is very neo soul grit. Coming at a time after the angst of\u00a0CREATURES, it’s a surreal, at times, drug induced trip through current life and reality.\u00a0

<\/em>Personally, I’ve been in a creative slump lately. Not necessarily in the sense that I’m running into walls in production, but more so being discouraged by looking at the overall picture of everything. Our content continues to evolve for the better, however our accolades and opportunities aren’t progressing along with that. The plight of most artists I imagine\u00a0Shaggy Carpets\u00a0aims to break us out of that. And hopefully gain some fans along the way.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

While RPxSB is clearly an abbreviation of the artists’ rap names, it serves a dual purpose as their tagline: Rock Plaid and Survive Bullshit. The rocking plaid part pays homage to classic San Francisco and that blue collar, union grit so embodied by the city, and the pair are truly a part of that. Roddy is a firefighter in the City, while Bizz’s family has lived in the Excelsior District for generations. Meanwhile, “Surviving Bullshit” harks back to all the times, both good and bad, when they were trying to succeed in life when things were seemingly stacked against them. Hopefully, with ‘Shaggy Carpets’, they’ve reached a point where all those bad times are behind them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
