Taking her song title from the colloquial name for a lunar eclipse, Jessica Carter Altman’s new single, ‘Blood Moon’, and the video that goes with it, sees her playing with fire.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The night sky is stained blood red during a Blood Moon, and the familiar becomes the unfamiliar, opening up the mind to wondering what we open ourselves up to when such a phenomenon occurs. Jessica Carter Altman has likewise wondered, and in her song she tussles with desire and longing, compulsion, lusts, and the compelling lure of the unknown. She draws on the old folk takes of werewolves, as well as films, mythology, and the occult, and pairs her lyrics with instrumentals that amp up their power and mystery. With scintillating synths, revving guitars, and silky smooth backing vocals all buoyed up by graceful yet driving rhythms, Carter Altman sets course on a journey of sexual abandon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Blood Moon’ is the lead single from Carter Altman’s current EP, and it’s going to be a pivotal track on her upcoming full length album, set to be released later this year. It’s a stunning, and compelling track, and deserves to be treated to an equally gorgeous video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so, it has been. With a treatment as if it was a blockbuster motion picture, the music video for ‘Blood Moon’ sees Carter Altman running through a chillingly bleak forest, raising heavenward a fiery torch. She sits by the fire in an abandoned house, surrounded by candles, along with what appears to be a clone of herself, or perhaps a demonic apparition. The pair are surrounded by votive candles, and the full effect is one of ritual and sinister magic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
