Callisto might be a new band but they’re certainly not musical novices. Made up of a group of seasoned professionals from a range of different bands, they exude a confidence that many others can only admire. Debut single, ‘This Is Awkward’ is far from being anything like its title; it’s vibrant and polished, and the accompanying music video takes us into the group’s practice space, allowing us to check them out at their most vulnerable.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Callisto boasts two vocalists Howi Spangler (best known for his eight albums with his band, Ballyhoo!), and Brandon Hardesty, who fronts the free-spirited Bumpin’ Uglies, and they are joined by drummer\/lyricist James DiNanno and vocalist\/keyboardist\/guitarist Rob DiNanno, who were both in Silhouette Rising before that group’s meteoric trajectory was knocked off course by a tragic car accident. The group are definitely ones for whom rock and roll is for life, not just for Christmas, and they’re a tight unit, and know it well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘This Is Awkward’, directed and edited by Andrew Hall, shows the ground level practice space, with its door leading to the outside. There’s spray paint on the ceiling, and posters on the walls, and the narrow space gives the effect of the band playing in a garden shed – and they may well be. Clearly they like it this way however, and it certainly gives them the edge they’re looking for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clip is clean and sharp and gives the viewer the idea that this is how the band perform live, as well as a fly on the wall feeling. We’re definitely excited to find out what comes next for Callisto!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
