Set for release on March 3, ‘Monster’ is the new single from emerging London artist, Sofia Gillani. The track, which comes ahead of her planned debut EP, examines the idea of expressing yourself by way of an alter ego that takes the form of what society considers to be a “monster”.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

With vocals reminiscent of Finnish artist Alma, Sofia Gillani breaks musical norms with ‘Monster’, with her powerful vocals underlaid by a simple keyboard and synth based instrumental. The listener is drawn along by Gillani’s voice, that itself feels like it’s walking along the lyrics. The artist sings of speaking one’s truth, and becoming a true representation of your own personal power. It’s both bold and vulnerable at the same time, as Sofia confronts her own “monster” and implores us to do the same. ‘Monster’ is empowering as we come face to face with the things we most dislike about ourselves, and coming to the realisation that we need to own it, and in so doing, show the world the very best version of ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sofia Gillani started her musical career when she was just 9, capturing a lead role in the musical, ‘Evita’. She has released 5 singles since 2020, and, one of them, ‘Water Runs Dry’, was featured on BBC Introducing, with the accompanying music video garnering more than 9 thousand views on YouTube so far. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sofia has performed live at a range of events, including Westfield London to Haslemere Fringe and Luton Pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
