The track, from his 4th solo album, &#8216;Amphibious&#8217;, out on Tritone Music, takes a look at the concept of shame from the perspective of someone trying to understand and handle this emotion, and to break its hold over them.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The song comes with a gorgeous video with Claymation by Erin Pollock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;ve written about Paul Jacks many times before, the artist from Anchorage Alaska who brings with him a languid melancholy in his voice, and a dark side that reflects the long nights in which he primarily writes his music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8216;Brand New Shame&#8217; is starkly reflective, and takes a deep dive into Jacks&#8217; mindset. He explains that his worst moments of shame come to him when he is &#8220;high on some horse&#8221; but he&#8217;s coming to grips with it, and perhaps the time has come to &#8220;shed his skin&#8221;. The drawn out vocals are matched to a dreamy instrumental, comprising guitar, percussion, and synth elements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The music video, crafted in Claymation by Erin Pollock, takes an almost literal interpretation of the lyrics, and shows a person who is covered by seemingly unsurmountable shame and disgust. They come to the realisation that the situation isn&#8217;t one without solution, and they &#8220;shed their skin&#8221;, literally, by way of a magical puddle, revealing their true self.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can watch the video for &#8216;Brand New Shame&#8217; below.
