Self-released 27 January, ‘Entropy Is The Mainline To God’ is the evocatively titled new album from The Veldt. The group comprises identical twins Daniel and Danny Chavis, along with drummer Martin Levi, were originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, but have been a fixture in New York’s East Village for the past nearly 30 years, where they hooked up with bassist\/programmer, Hayoto Nakao, who hails from Japan.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The 11 track album, which is their first long-player since 2017’s equally incredibly named, ‘The Shocking Fuzz of Your Electric Fur: The Drake Equation’, follows on from the ‘Check Your Mind’ EP, released in July last year. It’s clear great album names are this band’s stock in trade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, this isn’t all they’re good at, and latest single, ‘Sweeter’, from the new album, is testament to that. An alt-rock shoegaze masterpiece, it comes with a super tripping music video, which can be watched below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the thrumming bass and stonking drumbeat are the first things you notice, keeping everything on pace, there’s plenty more to discover in ‘Sweeter’, such as a variety of electronic layers, that swirl in and out – this effect is helped a great deal if you watch the music video at the same time. In addition, there’s a number of vocal layers, sandwiched within the electronica and traditional instrumentation. The overall effect is quite trippy and altogether very enjoyable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
