Doc City is an award-winning musician and producer, and his new independently released album, ‘Welcome To Doc City (Deluxe Edition)’ is out today 27 January.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The artist takes the listener on a journey through the universal mind, with the help of a number of his talented friends. The album, which takes its influences from such wide-ranging genres as R&B, Pop and Jazz, and covers themes such as up to date social issues, to deeply felt human themes, such as that of love and loss, that listeners will be able to relate to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening with the gorgeous R&B track, ‘What Love Is’, a deliciously meandering song of unconditional love, the album continues along similar lines with the anthemic ballad, ‘When You Are Near’. ‘Did You Choose?’, the third song, is a marvellously funky track which addresses the insanity of prejudice, bias, hate and bullying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make sure you check out the stunning cover of the Sade classic, ‘Sweetest Taboo’. Doc City and his musicians have given it a new lease on life, and taken it from the already beautiful soul song and given it an entirely different vibe, with R&B, hip hop, blues, and jazz elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doc City is the alias of Clarence Taylor, MD. He has taken his experience as the son of a Baptist Minister as well as his years of experience as a medical doctor, and applied it to his music. His sound harnesses the best of gospel music and spirituals, and imbues it with a timeless quality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in 1998 he received an Achievement Award for\u00a0Outstanding Song Composition\u00a0in the\u00a0International John Lennon Songwriters Competition, and he followed this up in 2002 with a nomination as the\u00a0Best R&B\/Soul Band\u00a0in the\u00a0Cleveland Free Times Music Awards.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
