You’ll be forgiven for thinking that Jim Jacobs is a long-established artist. In fact, I was quite shocked when I learned that his release, ‘Over For Good’, was his debut single.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Jim Jacobs grew up listening to the greats of country music. From Conway Twitty and Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, and especially George Jones. Country music was always playing in his home in Six Nations Ontario, Canada, as well as out in the barn, on the tractor, and in the car. It should come as no surprise therefore that it served as part of the inspiration for Jacobs to up sticks and move to Nashville, Tennessee, to follow his dreams of being a country music singer. Jim’s motivation to pursue country music is pretty similar to that of George Jones too. Jones is quoted as saying, “Country music, to me, is heartfelt music that speaks to the common man. It is about real-life stories with rather simple melodies that the average person can follow. Country music should speak directly and simply about the highs and lows of life. Something that anyone can relate to.” Jim Jacobs can certainly relate to that, and his song, ‘Over For Good’ certainly fits the bill as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Over For Good’ opens with Jim telling the story of one of his past relationships. Seemingly perfectly matched, and living a life of happiness, a couple had a child together, and all was well. For reasons unknown, she turns to alcohol for support, and communication between the pair ceases; they separate, and yet, the pain continues for Jacobs. Even though he knows they are truly “over dor good”, he still can’t help think of what could have been. A sad tale that even more sadly is oh too common. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jim Jacobs pulls at our heartstrings with his emotion-laden harmonies and authentic lyricism. The video is just as compelling as the song, putting his words into pictures, bringing the story to life. Jacobs himself, in his performance clips, shows just how deeply he feels this song, and viewers will be moved by how vulnerable he is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
