Formed “accidentally” when three housemates and a neighbour in Sheffield bubbled together during Christmas lockdown in 2020, Amalgaband prove that having nothing to do and nowhere to go is a great way to let creativity flow! Their single, ‘Rock’n’Roll Radio Xmas’ was recorded in their basement, and the video was shot the next day in the deserted streets of Nether Edge.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Amalgaband comprises Ash Gray on vocals and guitar, originally from Austin Texas and a musician in his own name; Tom Jarvis (also on guitar) who played with Britpop group, Reverend and the Makers; Thomas Lebioda, on bass, from Sheffield\/Brooklyn prog group, Frogbelly and Symphony; and 16 year old drumming prodigy, Flynn Hudson-Dean, who also shot the video. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re from the UK, ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Radio Christmas’, will definitely ring some bells. The stomping, catchy track with its rocking jingle bells has more than a hint of Slade’s ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’, while maintaining its very own flavour. The four musicians pour their all into the track, giving it a heartfelt vibe that brings a warmth to what had undoubtedly been an otherwise dour Christmas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Radio Christmas’ focuses on the character Nicky Claws, played by Ash Gray. He takes a trip around town with a radio on his shoulder and a wreath in his hand, extolling the virtues of Christmas, and calling on the neighbourhood to set aside their troubles for just one day. He’s not the real star of the video however; that’s Sheffield herself, captured in all her glory by Hudson-Dean. Sure it’s rain-washed streets, pubs and charity shops, but that’s what the guys from Amalgaband love about their town, and they’re wanting to share it with the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
