Back in the day there was a series of films, starring Burt Reynolds, Farrah Fawcett, and Dom DeLuise, among others, called ‘The Cannonball Run’. The original was based on the 1979 edition of the cross-country road race of the same name. So when I heard the name of ‘Cannonballers’, the new single by Colony House, I naturally thought of these films. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘Cannonballers’ adds to this thought, with all four members playing their part as they drive a vintage car at breakneck speed through midwestern towns, complete with white picket fences, water reservoirs, and old-time stores. It’s a lot of fun, the band members each taking their turn atop the classic car. These scenes are interspersed with black and white clips of the band playing in the studio, and from time to time there’s animated scenes, drawings, skeletons, and fireworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colony House, from Franklin, Tennessee, were just about to make a major breakthrough in 2020, right before the start of the Covid-19 Pandemic. They had released their third album, ‘Leave What’s Left Behind’, in the January, and they were on a headlining tour, with both record and concerts receiving high praise. But then, as we all know, everything ground to a halt two short months later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully, a global cataclysm wasn’t enough to stop Colony House, and word of mouth kept the momentum going, as well as the release of a live album, ‘Colony House Live, Vol. 1’. now with ‘Cannonballers’, their carefully curated blend of surf-rock, blues, and good old Southern rock serves as a reminder to their fans just how good they are,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
