Back in 2011 Swedish House Mafia topped the charts with the dance tune, ‘Save The World’. Since that time we’ve not made that many strides towards that end, with the past 7 years being the warmest on record, droughts and flooding rains alternatively causing insurmountable damage, and more than ten thousand lives lost in this past summer’s unprecedented heatwave across Europe. On top of all that, habitat destruction has been increasing at a heartbreaking rate across the globe, and especially in some of the most impoverished places in the world. Who’s going to save the world?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Well, if musician, activist, businessman, and environmentalist Jarvis Smith has any say in it, we are all going to save the world – and the damage can certainly be reversed. He believes passionately that it is in our capacity to pull ourselves out of the mess we’ve made, and with his cover of ‘Save The World’ he has updated it, and given it an eco-spin. Featuring the vocals of EDM singer Rita Morar, it comes with a video that not only gives viewers an insight into what is happening in the world around them, but also an opportunity to do something to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Released in time with Climate Week NYC 2022, each time ‘Save The World’ is streamed, it raises funds for areas of the world that are especially susceptible to instability created by the climate crisis. All money raised from the single and video are being donated by Smith and Morar to Fridays for Future MAPA (Most Affected People and Areas), a coalition of youth activists with an international reach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new single expands on the planetary consciousness-raising efforts of ‘The Phoenix Rose’, the self-titled debut album by Jarvis Smith’s band. ‘The Phoenix Rose’ serves as an appeal for international unity and understanding, and just like ‘Save the World’ it’s fun, danceable, and impassioned.

In the video for ‘Save the World’ we see a lone traveller in a post-apocalyptic landscape, who suddenly experiences the greening of a world given up for lost. The seed that begins the rehabilitation of the world is music, represented by a set of headphones which pump out the beat into a world filled with stale air. It’s a vision of hope that is more than achievable. At the end of the video, climate activist Greta Thunberg – as well as several others – shows her support for ‘Save The World’. The message is clear: we can ‘Save The World’. Let’s work together and do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
