You’ll have read our recent review of rising rap star Timothy Isaiah’s debut single, ‘Ropes’. Now join us as we ask Timothy about his new single, the incredible music video that comes with it, and what question he’d most like to be asked by an interviewer.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Hi Timothy, thanks for speaking to us!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your new single, \u2018Ropes\u2019, comes with what is essentially a short film. Who came up with the concept, and do you see yourself going into acting at some point?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was definitely blessed with an amazing Director and storyteller in Adante! When I came to him with the concept of Ropes being set in a boxing gym he took that idea, ran with it and developed a wonderful story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you feel this style of feature is the way forward, as it allows the artist to showcase their other talents as well? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This style of video is something I would love to continue moving forward, acting is something I\u2019ve always wanted to try and what better way to start out than by starring in my own music videos; I think more artists should tap into their other talents!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did you box before you made the video? Will you continue to box?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I did! I boxed for several years when I was younger. Myself and my co-star, Jackson Miller, both have previous boxing experience, which really helped when choreographing the fight sequences. Boxing was a fun time but these days I\u2019ll leave it to the professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who are your greatest musical influences? What about in life in general, who inspires you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kendrick Lamar is definitely a huge inspiration to me as an artist! He, along with other artists like Big Krit, J. Cole and the Dreamville camp have helped shape my sound to what it is today! Outside of that, my family and close friends are my biggest inspiration, they push me to do more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What got you into music in the first place? What have you learned that you would be open to share with others just starting out?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My brothers were the first ones to introduce me to music. They made rap look cool to me, and gave me something to aspire to, because I wanted to be just like them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I had to share something with a new artist that would probably be this: know what you\u2019re doing it for, know what your limits are, then draw the line in the sand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What question would you most like for someone to ask you in an interview? And what\u2019s the answer to that question?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s your purpose for being an artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I would say to have the influence to impact someone\u2019s life with a song. When people come up to me and tell me how much my music has done for them, it\u2019s a feeling that\u2019s unmatched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
