With his new single, ‘The Narrative’, this artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has something that’s catchy enough to find an audience with listeners, no matter where in the world they’re from. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

B. West has enough swagger to connect to everyone, but that’s not enough to satisfy him – he also creates verses that are specific, poetic, and lovingly crafted descriptions of the joys and hardships of his Philly upbringing, and while the City of Brotherly Love has always been central to hip-hop’s larger story, B. West’s tunes tell a tale that can be enjoyed by all listeners, no matter where they’re from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘The Narrative’ is effectively B. West’s life story, which he’s rendered in rhyme, and which serves as his autobiography. Of course there’s plenty of Philly content, as West raps about his youth, growing up in the neighbourhoods on the north side of town. He reminisces about playing games, and the pastimes of his teenage years. He names names, as well as the locations of the places he and his mates hung out – including the local skating rink. B. West makes sure that it’s known that no matter how far he’s travelled, he’s still a true son of Philadelphia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video opens with West taking a trip down memory lane, and while interspersed with scenes of the city, and his old time haunts, also takes the form of a moving photo album, including footage of people he’s met along the way, such as those he’s hosted on his web-based talk show, including Meek Mill, and Jadakiss. It’s a moving and reflective clip, and shows that no matter how far you may roam, there’s never any place like home<\/p>\n\n\n\n
