We’ve been covering the Baker Grace story for a while now, starting with her single, ‘Sad Summer’, in August 2019, and most recently, her latest track, ‘Shake The Earth’, which sees her show off her talents as not just a singer songwriter and musician, but also as a dancer. Now we are pleased to give our readers and Baker’s fans a chance to find out more about this incredible artist, and hope you enjoy our chat!<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Hi Baker Grace, thank you so much for speaking to us!<\/strong> You\u2019re on the up and up, writing and releasing songs, and you\u2019ve even contributed to the soundtrack for the film, \u2018Last Survivors\u2019 \u2013 yet you\u2019re still so young! What\u2019s left for you to achieve, what dreams do you have yet to fulfil?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I was younger, I used to have these huge dreams. I wanted to end world poverty and win a Grammy. Now, though those things sound great, I really just want to be able to do what I love and hopefully use it to help as many people as possible. I think that when you find a passion that connects you to others and that others benefit from, it becomes your purpose. I wanna build a fanbase and use my community to not only create and share incredible art but help improve health, equality, and education around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

You grew up in a musical home, with your Dad, Michael Baker, being a musician and producer. Was music something you always wanted to do, or did you rebel against it at any point?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I always performed, sang, and wrote. It\u2019s just part of who I am and the way I see the world. I couldn\u2019t not do it if I tried.  I actually had to beg my dad to record my first song, he was always super busy and needed it to be worthwhile. Once I proved I had what it takes, he was super supportive and has been ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who are the greatest inspirations in your music? What about life in general?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some artists I\u2019m really inspired by are Freddie Mercury, Lenny Kravitz, Kanye West, Pink, and Dolly Parton. I think because they were all willing to take risks and didn\u2019t let the industry get to them, they stayed true to themselves no matter what. They also all stood for something bigger than themselves. Some of my inspirations in life are Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Malala Yousafzei, and Pema Chodron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video for your new single, \u2018Shake The Earth\u2019 sees you being a triple threat \u2013 singing, playing piano, and performing a beautifully choreographed dance. Do you feel it\u2019s important for entertainers to have the full skillset of voice, instrument, and dance? Do you think you\u2019ll go into acting one day?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would love to act in a movie one day, I absolutely love acting and I did it when I was younger but chose to pursue music. I am of the mentality of finding your strengths and making them stronger. I think that it\u2019s cool to have multiple skills but I also think there\u2019s too much pressure on creatives nowadays to be able to do it all. I am, however, a big fan of testing your limits and trying new things. I do think it\u2019s important to be able to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected you and your music? Has it given you the opportunity for self-reflection, or has it been a case of life going on as normal for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has definitely affected me, but I took it as an opportunity to grow and become more grateful for everything in my life. It gave me a chance to fall in love with music again as writing helped me process everything I was going through at the time. Music is like a diary for me, so anything that happens in my life affects what I create.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that the world is opening up again, will you be touring, and if so, where can fans see you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m currently touring in Mexico with the artist Charlie Rodd that I collabed with in 2019. I\u2019m planning on doing more shows in the US in the summer but nothing is booked yet. I absolutely love being on stage and it feels so good to connect to people in person again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What question do you wish someone would ask you in an interview, and what\u2019s the answer?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Question:  <\/strong>If you could go back and tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer: <\/strong>Nothing. There is so much beauty in innocence, discovery, making mistakes, learning, falling in love, falling out of love. Everything that has happened has made me who I am and I wouldn\u2019t wanna change any bit of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
