The four track release is dedicated to the artist’s late mother, and is set for release on the anniversary of her death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
‘Take A Moment’ is poignant and moving, each of the tracks showcasing a different stage in Rakhi’s journey through grief. The emotions she feels are both tangible and raw, with the listener drawn into her feelings through powerful lyrics and stirring music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The soulful vocals of Rakhi lead us through the vale of pain, commencing with ‘Fly Me To The Moon’, a stirring track which fully conveys the depths of her anguish in the earliest days after her mother’s passing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The title track follows on, Rakhi’s passion and hurt expressed perfectly in rhyme; she spits out her bars and we feel within ourselves what she’s going through. This is juxtaposed with beautifully sung verses, which no less passionately share her feelings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Track 3, ‘Heavenly Mama’ will make even the hardest heart break as it opens with a voice note from Rakhi’s mother, and she freestyles a prayer of love to her mother, accompanied by guitar and simple percussion. The EP is rounded up by a live performance track, ‘I Pray’, which is both intimate and delicate, and serves as a showcase of the talent of this incredible artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rakhi has always been musical, singing both in the playground and choir at school, then in the recording studio, and at live events. Music serves as a tool for Rakhi to heal both herself and those around her, while she describes poetry as her first love, and cites among her influences the likes of Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, and Whitney Houston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
