Overdrive took his inspiration from Basil Poledouris (specifically his work on ‘Conan The Barbarian’), and John Williams, as well as samples from Miroslav Vitous String Ensembles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overdrive is able to replicate the sound of live performance in his work, by the addition of “imperfections”, made using a sequencer, before he records everything in his home studio, using his E-mu Emulator E4X Turbo Sampler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overdrive, real name Fabio Prestes de Oliveria, started learning piano at the age of 5, and guitar when he was a teenager. This led him to playing guitar in a number of rock bands in the 1980s, before he discovered electronic music, and samplers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was his use of software such as Scream Tracker and Fasttracker, which led to Overdrive being featured in Computer Music Magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
