A guitar track of the best sort, ‘Idlewild’ is as much poetry set to music as a song; given one of the many strings on Taylor’s is as a poet, this should come as no surprise. His vocals are of the Americana sort, there’s a touch of Glen Campbell about his husky, baritone vocals – ‘Wichita Lineman’ or maybe ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’; they’re vocals with strength and authority. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taylor has music running through his veins, having first picked up a banjo at the age of 5, and joining his family band at the age of 8. The poetry came next, before he was even 10 years old, and to date he’s written more than a thousand songs, from a wide range of genres, recording several hundred of them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
‘Idlewild’ grabs you by the heartstrings both lyrically and sonically. Taylor is able to perfectly communicate his feelings; and they’re ones we may well be feeling too – in this day and age of covid and changed circumstances, we may as well reconsider what we’re doing in our lives, and set new goals for ourselves. Taylor has his “castle”, he’s got beautiful nature around him, he’s going to enjoy himself, and, if he “gets a little bliss” he’s “going to make up his mind to never let it go”.
