It’s the band’s first single of the year, and comes after ‘Dead Man’, from September 2020. While that was explosive, to say the least, this one is a much smoother track, opening with jangly guitars from Preston Fauver, tempered by light percussion from drummer Devin Ritts. Languid vocals from Tony Boll, and sultry sax round out the song, which in the last third calls on a sound not too dissimilar to David Bowie’s ‘Golden Years’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You could in fact throw out any name from the 70s through 90s and hit a winner with this song. It’s pretty clear they’ve been inspired by 90s alternative music, but that’s not to say they’re derivative. The long drawn out end of the track gives off a Clapton vibe, so heck, lets take their inspirations back to the 60s as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There’s a dreamy, sleepy, dozy kind of feel to the track which I really got into; it fully deserves to be enjoyed with a glass of your favourite tipple. Mine’s coffee, and it works well with that. There’s an element of jam session about the track, a sort of rawness around the edges, but this isn’t to say it doesn’t sound fully formed – rather it has a relaxed vibe to it, which makes the listener feel as though they might be catching the band performing for their own enjoyment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
