The Brooklyn rock scene has got to be one of the most competitive in the USA right now. Antagonista, from Bushwick, Brooklyn, knows this all too well; to make it you’ve got to have great songs, a great look, and a great stage presence. But not only that, you’ve got to put them all together in a way that’s going to entice the audience in way that’s both novel and exciting at the same time. Luckily they’ve got all this in spades, and in particular with their new single, ‘Indigenous Geometry’.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Antagonista is a rock group with a sound that’s intense, committed, and abrasive enough to make an instant impression. They’ve also got the sort of confidence and poise that will satisfy fans of classic rock. Their sound pays homage to punk, folk, garage rock, loose-R&B, and even jazz, and their songs are instantly memorable, while being ever so slightly offbeat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Indigenous Geometry’ was designed for the stage, and because of this it has a timeless quality that could place it in any rock era. The track follows on from their 2020 album, ‘Salted-Over Stardust’, and the considerable acclaim that release garnered. ‘Indigenous Geometry’ has poetic lyrics and swelling rock rhythms that fill every corner of the room and deserves to be turned up to 11. Singer Sean Davenport makes sure that he pronounces every syllable, and matches it perfectly to the beat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Davenport is also the focus of the video for ‘Indigenous Geometry’. Shot in black and white, he is mostly seen in the corner of a room, sitting on a chair. From time to time he’s peeking out from behind some foliage, or tapping out a message on a typewriter…and then there’s – randomly – a German Shepherd dog, panting in front of the camera. But is it so random? Davenport looks like a wild animal at times, so perhaps it’s an indication of the wild spirit within him. No matter the reason, one thing is clear, ‘Indigenous Geometry’ is catchy as all hell and we’re here for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
