Even though it doesn’t snow in Southern California, doesn’t mean you can’t throw a great Christmas party – The Tano Jones Revelry know this only too well, and in the clip for their new single, ‘Little Drummer Boy’, they take us to the streets of Los Angeles, as well as the Pacific Ocean beachfront.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

‘Little Drummer Boy’ makes for a very appropriate holiday song to cover; it’s super-aspirational, approachable, and downright humble. The central character is no angel, saint, or supernatural being, but rather it’s a poor boy, whose only possession is his drum. Given the chance to play it however, and he shows to all his dedication to his craft; making an impression on everyone who hears – including baby Jesus.<\/p>\n

Likewise, Tano Jones is also resourceful.\u00a0His flexibility is apparent in his approach to music and the distinctive sound he\u2019s developed, which draws from RnB and soul, pop-funk, hip-hop, and classic rock in equal parts. He ensures that every track he plays is sophisticated, both harmonically and rhythmically, and above all else his gorgeous voice is as crisp and invigorating as a breeze off the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n

Jones’ arrangement of ‘Little Drummer Boy’ is a fab showcase for his imagination and daring. The song opens with little more than an acrobatic bass groove and a magnetic vocal performance. But by the second verse, he\u2019s added relentless percussion, wah-wah guitar, Stax-inspired horn bursts, finger snaps, everything going hard and digging deep, all for the King and the glory of music.<\/p>\n

The celebrants in the ‘Little Drummer Boy’ video don\u2019t have all that much to bring to the party. Yet they\u2019re young, they\u2019re enthusiastic, and they\u2019re lucky to live in a place as magical as Los Angeles \u2014 and they act like they know it. There\u2019s a bounce to their steps as they carry their modest gifts from their places of business to the seashore. When they get there, they find The Tano Jones Revelry set up on the sand, and when the sun sets and the bonfire roars, it\u2019s hard to imagine a more idyllic setting for a get-together, no matter what holiday that party commemorates.<\/p>\n
