\u2018The Tape\u2019 is the debut feature film by Martha Tilston. Not only does the celebrated singer-songwriter write, direct and star in its gripping and surprising story, but she also recorded its stunning soundtrack live on set. This is believed to be a UK first for a non-concert film, and the only time this has been done at all since Robert Altman\u2019s \u2018Nashville\u2019 in 1975. The film<\/a> and soundtrack<\/a> are both out now.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u2018In This Song\u2019 appears towards the end of ‘The Tape’ when Tilston\u2019s character plays a live show, while the video for it is taken straight from the film. With a lyric that reflects on the emotional bond that has developed between her and the co-lead actor during the course of the story, Tilston explains that,<\/p>\n

\u201csometimes we may pass a soul we know to love, or perhaps we have loved them in lives past? But, for one reason or another, we may not be able to be together in this one. So I made a place for us to meet, to love and dream – and it’s in this song.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The piano-based ballad follows the timely single \u2018Sadness Of The Sea\u2019, which was released several weeks before the recent Cop26 conference and is a pertinent look at climate change and our relationship with the environment in general.<\/p>\n
