Niko has dropped another exciting single in the lead up to the release of her upcoming album, ‘Electric Union’. There’s something wildly reminiscent of Tubeway Army in her sound, along with Kate Bush, and Debbie Harry – but to us the strongest comparison would be to Lene Lovich. However, in the hands of Niko, all these sounds become her very own, and we are compelled by the urge to get on a train and make our way to The Palace Discotheque.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The second release from ‘Electric Union’, new single ‘The Palace Discotheque’ sees Niko increase the tempo and up the electronic elements, by way of pulsating bass rhythms, and and a mix of intricately layered melodies. There’s police sirens, thrumming drum machine beats, and a mix of vocals “lasagned” in such a way as to come together in one delicious meal of a song.<\/p>\n

New York has clearly been the inspiration for the track, and Niko transports us back to the Palace Disco in its heyday, with both her words and the music itself. There’s definitely a reason we’re reminded of artists whose peak was during the 70s and 80s; Niko has managed to perfectly capture the atmosphere in her music.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying shows and clubbing in New York was an experience but It was often the journey home where things got really interesting. The streets and trains had an electric energy but it could also feel edgy at times, you had to be on your toes.\u201d\u00a0 Niko<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

‘The Palace Discotheque’ was produced by and written with Niko’s long-time musical partner, Aim. ‘Electric Union’ is set for release on ATIC Records on October 22nd, and will be followed by a remix EP early 2022.<\/p>\n
