The album remains a cornerstone of folktronica and indie pop, and charted in eleven countries, including the US, the UK, and the group’s native Germany. Since then they’ve topped the charts with the multi-platinum selling ‘Stolen Dance’, which established Milky Chance as one of the most appealing bands in the world. They followed this up with ‘Cocoon’, collaborated with Jack Johnson and Tash Sultana, performed at Coachella, and took home Echo and European Border Breakers Awards. Everything Milky Chance records an earworm, no less so than on their new single, ‘Colorado’.

The wonderfully weird, slightly unnerving, and subtly funny video for ‘Colorado’, carries over the distinctive personality of the band. Directed by Vincent Sylvain, the band are captured at a visibly striking but faded hotel: everything about the set suggests the late 70s. The role of the musicians is uncertain – they’re sometimes the employees, and sometimes they’re guests engaged in strange, questionable, and hallucinatory practices. It’s all more than a little fascinating. Cigarette cases conceal French fries, the jelly at the buffet conceals strange objects, a burger bun has a pentagram on it, and listeners at the lounge stand way too close to the band as they play. Naturally, the members of Milky Chance find their comfort in room 420 where, surrounded by swan-shaped towels, they strum, sing, and fall into a trance.

Find out more about Milky Chance from their official website.

Milky Chance’s latest single, ‘Colorado’, is cool, exquisitely balanced, and extraordinarily timely.
