Following the acclaim of her 2020 album \u2018Confessional\u2019, Janet champions the unapologetic honesty that defines her in \u2018Place Called Home\u2019, reflecting on the inner battles that come with searching for a sense of belonging. The single is the first from her much-anticipated forthcoming EP \u201cIt\u2019s Not That Deep\u201d and marks the beginning of her previously delayed tour.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u2018Place Called Home\u2019 sees Janet briefly shed the traditional folk influences adopted on \u2018Confessional\u2019 and embark on a summer road trip, complete with vintage guitar and epic drums that collide to form what she describes as a \u201cdriving with the roof down\u201d vibe. Beneath the uplifting atmosphere lies deeper, melancholic lyrics as Janet reflects on the tiresome journey of finding a place where she belongs.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the song, Janet said: <\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe song means many different things for me. It\u2019s about this feeling of wanting too much to find the home that everyone deserves but the lost feeling of trying to find it. I wanted to hide the \u2018despair\u2019 feeling with the positive sound of the track, but still keep that hint of melancholy in the lyrics. The idea of \u2018living like a rolling stone\u2019 portrays an almost lifestyle choice to the idea but the truth lying with in \u2018it\u2019s in my veins but my roots won\u2019t grow\u2019. That frustration of finding a place but it never quite being the place that I\u2019ll settle into.\u00a0The verses very much sum me up as a person. That idea of keeping people at a distance in case I end up moving home again. But trying to play it off as a happy choice with the \u201cI\u2019ve always loved to travel.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The single, co-written with Johnny Wright (Birdy, Foxes, Fickle Friends), is accompanied by an \u2018alt country mix\u2019, and commemorates the forthcoming \u2018Confessional\u2019 tour beginning on 6th<\/sup> September, previously delayed due to Covid. Initially scheduled for 2020, the tour was intended as a victorious celebration of her album \u2018Confessional\u2019 and autobiography \u2018My Confessional\u2019. Both provided an unfiltered version of her life thus far, illustrating the tribulations she\u2019s overcome both in and out of the public eye and demonstrating her unique ability to transform pain with creativity.<\/p>\n

Janet will be appearing with her regular live band, plus guest appearances from Grace Davies among others. Fans can expect performances of tracks from her 2020 album \u2018Confessional\u2019, a handful of originals from her back catalogue, a few yet-to-be released songs, and no doubt the odd fan-favourite cover. As an extension of Janet\u2019s IGTV “Confession Session”<\/a><\/u> series, concert-goers will also be able to experience Janet\u2019s mobile \u2018Confessional\u2019 booth and share their confessions (anonymously!).<\/p>\n
