Regular readers of EP will be no strangers to Greg Hoy, we’ve been covering his releases for a while now, and each time he ups his game to what feels like an unreachable level, only to surpass it with the next. His new single, ‘Highway 101’, is the lead track from ‘Cacophony 2’, his second of 3 EP releases. Like all of his songs, there’s a deep story within the words, yet there’s something else that’s going to attract your attention first.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

While there’s an old-school sound to the track, it’ll make you stop, listen, and want to dance; the guitar riffs are as strong as ever, but there’s a certain relaxed vibe to them. The song itself is about hopping into a car, putting the top down, and making some memories – a road trip for Greg, as he reflects on the past, while pining nostalgically for those days.<\/p>\n

As with all the videos for Greg’s songs, the clip for ‘Highway 101’ is no less creative. It opens with a toy estate\/station wagon; it’s pulled by a string, while in the background a flickering film plays, as the car continues to “drive”, with the background of beautiful scenery, including colourful footage of Salvation Rock, California, rolling out behind it.<\/p>\n

Between the driving clips, we see Hoy and his bandmates laying down tracks in the studio, in Cook County Minnesota. All in all, the timelessness of the video and the song is a pleasant reminder of what Hoy is capable of, and puts us in mood to find out what he comes up with next.<\/p>\n
