‘Different Woman’ is the latest track from South Carolina-raised, Georgia-based singer-songwriter and one man band, Ben Bostick. Out today, the song is from his upcoming self-released album, ‘Grown Up Love’, which is due out on 20 August.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Bostick cites as among his influences the likes of Johnny Cash, Paul Simon, and Otis Redding. You can certainly hear the inspiration of Simon in ‘Different Woman’, particularly ‘Diamonds On The Souls of His Shoes’. You half expect Ladysmith Black Mambazo to have a writing credit on the song.<\/p>\n

Upbeat and fun, with a danceable rhythm and some funky horns – who can resist a funky horn – ‘Different Woman’ is catchy and ear-worming. Bostick’s alto vocals also convey a sense of joy and it’s hard to dislike this song.<\/p>\n

Ben Bostick got into music after trying his hand at a variety of odd jobs over a decade. He found his way to California, where he discovered he was able to make a living playing music busking on Santa Monica Pier. Saving his money, Bostick recorded his debut EP, ‘My Country’, which came out in 2016. This was followed up in 2017 by his eponymous debut EP, which saw Bostick take on a more country sound, and helped him hone his songwriting chops.<\/p>\n

The high energy songs of ‘Hellfire’, released in 2018, was a showcase of Bostick’s versatility, and covers a year of residency at The Escondite in downtown LA.<\/p>\n

Nothing if not prolific, Bostick released his third album, ‘Among The Faceless Crowd’, after moving to Atlanta, Georgia, in September 2019. The upcoming album, ‘Grown Up Love’, follows a year which saw Bostick and his wife welcome their second daughter in February, while their eldest daughter was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, which affects every aspect of her life. ‘Grown Up Love’ therefore is an album of songs written to help both his wife and himself endure their hardships, and are born out of the experiences of a couple who’ve been to hell and back.<\/p>\n
