Martha Wainwright is beginning again. The beguiling performer and songwriter makes a most welcome return with ‘Love Will Be Reborn’, her first new album in five years, released August 20th on Pheromone Records\/Cooking Vinyl.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s her first album since 2016\u2019s \u2018Goodnight City\u2019, and the first since 2012\u2019s acclaimed \u2018Come Home To Mama\u2019 to feature so much original material. All eleven songs on \u2018Love Will Be Reborn\u2019 are written by Martha. She wrote the first song, and what would become the title track, a few years ago in what was a very dark time for her personally.<\/p>\n
The title-track \u2018Love Will Be Reborn\u2019 hints at the ache of recent years while capturing a sense of optimism for the future. She wraps her wondrous, trademark vocals around the heartbreak to dizzying effect.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI wrote the song in its entirety within ten or fifteen minutes,\u201d she admits.\u201d I was bawling.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
