Hailing from Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii, singer songwriter Kailee Spark has released the second single, ‘Passageways’, from her debut album ‘Savor This’, produced by local folk legend Bub Pratt, which is set for release on June 4.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The song is a plaintive meandering through plucked and strummed guitar, subtle brush drumming, and breezy chimes, and follows from her previous release, ‘So Much Fun’.<\/p>\n

Released through the local Kukuau Studio Label, ‘Passageways’ is a story told by a wandering lover who has returned home. The wanderer has experienced and enjoyed so much, but all the while has found love eluded her. “I’ve seen god from Norway \/ I’ve hiked the Himalayan Mountain Range \/ I’ve done a lot \/ but now I want to dive deep down your eyes,” she sings. Deftly exploring themes of pain, release, connection, and escape, Spark is clearly in familiar territory. With a crescendo of hushed “ahhs” in the chorus, amid rising drums, she repeats a line and makes a case to her heart’s desire.<\/p>\n

The video, directed by Bub Pratt and Chris Roberts, sees Spark wandering through the wet, lush tropical rainforest, wearing a simple white dress. Shot her on the ancient Na Ala Hele Trail and Ha’ena Beach, it serves as the perfect setting for a song about a wandering soul. Kailee explores deeply into the undergrowth, whereupon she encounters a stream, and starts to cover herself in the black volcanic mud. Finally, she strides into the ocean, walking deeper and deeper, until she’s completely submerged, cleansed, going a little further than she meant to – perhaps to illustrate someone truly in love.<\/p>\n
