Young Thug’s vocals are instantly recognisable: with their laser-like precision they hit their mark fast, while at the same time their otherworldly quality ensures that there’s no mistaking whose voice it is. It’s what’s made not only his own releases best sellers, but also why he’s been in such demand as the secret ingredient in hits by the likes of Camila Cabello, Calvin Harris, Post Malone, and many other pop stars. So given all that, it’s clear just what importance been added to ‘Drunk Mess’, the mesmerising single by pop-rap duo Kooly Bros, when Young Thug provided his vocals. Speaking of his fellow Georgians, he said,\u00a0 “it’s their time.”<\/strong><\/h4>\n

That’s not to say Kooly Bros, aka singer G Fresh and rapper Sanders, are going along for the ride. Their songs are very definitely fun, but they also put in the hard yards. Kooly Bros recordings are the fruition of all the ideas they’ve had while working on other projects: G Fresh has produced for Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, Future, and many other artists prominent in the hip-hop scene. ‘Drunk Mess’ might seem to be a delirious track, but it’s well tight too, and the sleek calibration between Sanders’s rapid-fire rhymes and G Fresh’s sweet melodies is as fine a thing as could be imagined.<\/p>\n

The video for the track, directed by Nard & B, who’ve also worked with Migos and T Shirt, gives brothers the ideal bleary-eyed musical backdrop for their late-night storytelling, making this beat as cinematic and immersive as it is danceable, and it couldn’t have come from anywhere but modern Atlanta.<\/p>\n

You’d never guess that G Fresh and Sanders were born in Switzerland, that’s how at home they are in their adopted town. The clip shows the pair accompanied by a trio of young women, getting up to tricks in a convenience store, then riding through the cavernous city streets on a hot night. They may be drunk, but that doesn’t mean they’re about to slow down any time soon. Young Thug on the other hand is sober as a judge, keeping cool in the studio, cutting his vocals in true pro style. It’s when the three come together at the end of the clip, that the party really starts.<\/p>\n
