Globally revered Irish artist Imelda May has today announced her first major UK tour in over five years in support of her highly anticipated new album \u201811 Past The Hour\u2019<\/em>. Tickets for the 2022 tour go on general sale Friday 23 April 2021 at 10am via www.gigsandtours.com<\/a> and www.ticketmaster.co.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Superstar singer and songwriter Imelda\u2019s sixth studio album \u201811 Past The Hour\u2019<\/em> – her first new music in four years – is a record that brims with sensuality, emotional intelligence, spirituality and intuition, marking a new chapter for Imelda and showcasing her at her most authentic. With pals and collaborators like Ronnie Wood, Noel Gallagher, Miles Kane & Niall McNamee,\u00a0and with inspired contributions from feminist thinkers and activists such as\u00a0Gina Martin\u00a0and Dr\u00a0Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, the album is an invigorating blast of rock\u2019n\u2019roll, with a purpose.<\/p>\n

Born and raised in The Liberties area of Dublin, Imelda has become one of Ireland\u2019s most famed female artists in history. Discovered by\u00a0Jools Holland, who asked Imelda to go on tour with him, Imelda has gone on to perform duets with artists including\u00a0U2,\u00a0Lou Reed, Sinead O Connor, Robert Plant, Van Morrison, Jack Savoretti\u00a0and\u00a0Elvis Costello\u00a0and has featured on recent albums and live tours with\u00a0Jeff Beck, Jeff Goldblum\u00a0and\u00a0Ronnie Wood.<\/p>\n

Her last album landed at\u00a0No.5\u00a0in the\u00a0UK Official Album Chart\u00a0and she can count such artists as\u00a0Bob Dylan\u00a0and\u00a0Bono\u00a0amongst her fans. Last year, her 2008 album\u00a0\u2018Love Tattoo\u2019<\/em>\u00a0was named the\u00a0bestselling album\u00a0of modern chart history by a homegrown female Irish artist by the Official Charts Company. Last summer, Imelda released her debut poetry EP \u2018Slip of the Tongue\u2019<\/em>\u00a0to widespread critical acclaim and received global recognition for her poem \u2018You Don\u2019t Get To Be Racist and Irish\u2019<\/em> used by the Irish government\u2019s ReThink Ireland campaign for billboards across the country.<\/p>\n
