Denver rapper, producer, and songwriter CK Marion compares herself to a lion on her latest single, ‘Get Up’, which features Saint Mercury.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The track sees her roar about injustice, police brutality,\u00a0poverty, and the cruel insensitivity of those who choose not to pay attention to the suffering of their neighbours. CK’s arguments and delivery are so powerful; this song is certainly one which is likely to change the minds of many.<\/p>\n

‘Get Up’ follows on from CK’s album, ‘Resist’, which began with a confessional statement of purpose and ended with a raised fist against the establishment. With ‘Get Up’, she\u00a0 magnifies her political message and enhances the tone she established on ‘Resist’. CK Marion is an artist who is always looking for new ways to challenge herself, and she’s certainly risen to the challenge with ‘Get Up’.<\/p>\n

The music video for ‘Get Up’ sees CK surrounded by tombstones, in a graveyard, and she’s summoning a resurrection. Additionally the camera finds her on the steps of a courthouse, where, with all she can raise up from within her, she calls on the better angels of America: those souls who believe in equality and magnanimity. It doesn’t take long before she’s joined by other faces and voices, shaking off injustice, and committing themselves to a life spent wide awake.<\/p>\n
