Formerly known as Kamilah Sumner, Hi Love redefined her sound over a three year hiatus, and now amplifies her style through a tenderness of passion, and God’s words, by way of 90s-inspired hip hop and soulful vocal melodies. In her own words, her music is “a sweet nostalgic sound that fits perfectly into the modern world.”<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Hi Love’s early career including working with Kayne West, Grammy Award winner, producers Needlz and NO I.D., the latter of whom is also a music executive. Her lyrics were originally poems, which goes some way to explaining why they are so introspective; she also pays homage to her sources, which include the likes of the late Minnie Riperton, and Stevie Wonder.<\/p>\n

Hi Love’s latest single, ‘Cold Wind’, makes a lot of sense for someone who hails from the Windy City of Chicago. With nature playing a direct role in our disposition – we feel happier when the sun is out, and gloomier when it rains – it also makes sense that ‘Cold Wind’ is based on the obstacles we encounter in life, and how we choose to respond to them. The track is taken from the EP of the same name, produced by Trackhouse Productions. The video, like the EP, replicates Hi Love’s love of the 90s, and was shot on a cold and grey night in Chicago. We see Hi Love cruising around the city, with footage of rooftops and parks, and even through the underground tunnel, the Lower Wacker, which featured in the film, ‘The Dark Knight’. A very retro clip, it follows Hi Love as she sings and grooves around the streets, and chooses not to allow any obstacle to overcome her, but rather face it head on.
