Baltimore quartet Silvertung are on their way up with their unmatched brand of progressive rock. Comprising Speed Vincent on vocals,\u00a0lead guitarist Codey Red, drummer Boma Jaxx, and bassist Sam Bowers, the band came to the attention of the greater public when they received two Maryland Music Awards for “Best Heavy Metal Band” and “Breakout Artist.\u201d Not only that, but four of their singles have hit the Billboard Mainstream Rock Radio Chart. Silvertung’s most recent release, ‘But, at What Cost??!’, is a seven-track album which sees each song flowing into the next, in a parallel of current events. Latest single, ‘You’re Fine’, sees them tackle mental illness head on, without at all sugar-coating the truth.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

When we get lost in the fug of depression, there’s very little that can cause us to come out of it. Silvertung however gives us that\u00a0reassurance we need to hear, as they say “You’re fine”. The video clip shows characters in distress, struggling to deal with it all, so they resort to sitting on a shower floor, jogging in the woods, or spamming their partner with anxious texts. They are trying to cope, but at the same time, it’s clear that they’re distressed. ‘You’re Fine’ even contains literal messages spelling out “you’re fine” be it lipstick on the mirror or drawn in the snow.<\/p>\n

The video also features Silvertung, shown rocking it out in the woods. Speaking about the track, Speed said,<\/p>\n

“We wrote this song because we see the effects that mental illness has in life. But more importantly, the strengths you have, you may not even know.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It’s a strong message and a strong video, with a fearsome percussion and steady bass emphasising the roughness of the guitar; in a way the track serves to remind us that we’re not alone, and that we will get through this all.<\/p>\n
