‘The Pied Piper’ is at its simplest a repeated percussive rhythm, with swirling electronic sounds, which draw in the listener. About a third of the way in however, we are shaken out of our reverie by a disembodied, synthetic voice. We’re soon returned to our trance however, as DROL adds sounds to further capture our attention, waves of synths envelop us, while the drums alternate between slow, almost rapturous sounds, to fast-paced frenetic beats. The disembodied voice returns in the final third of the track, and once again, we’re shaken out of the vibe we’ve found ourselves in.<\/p>\n
DROL recorded ‘The Pied Piper’ in his home studio during lockdown, and effectively brings the club feeling to our homes.<\/p>\n
The artist fell into music production after art school, when he found himself battling a number of issues, including a diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes. Music therefore served as a catharsis, and he uses his sound, which he describes as expressive neuro drum and bass, to reflect the different parts of his personality.<\/p>\n
