We’ve written about Marvin Etzioni already in his role as half of the duo, Thee Holy Brothers<\/a>. Now we write about his solo release, ‘Love Letter To Democracy’, which follows on from his critically acclaimed album, ‘What’s the Mood Of The Country Now?’, which featured vocals from soul singer, Sy Smith.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Etzioni is both a Grammy winning record producer, and a Grammy nominated songwriter, and the artist, who was a founding member of Lone Justice, and has toured with U2 and Tom Petty, and produced Counting Crows, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Stephen Stills\/Judy Collins and others, knows a thing or two about music. His most covered song, ‘Can’t Cry Hard Enough’, is in the US Library of Congress, and his songs have found their way onto the soundtracks of popular tv shows, including ‘Orage Is The New Black’, ‘Banshee’, and ‘Sneaky Pete’.<\/p>\n

‘Love Letter To Democracy’ was released in time for the Biden Presidential Inauguration, and is a celebration of the new administration. It was mastered by Sean Magee, who’s best known for re-mastering The Beatles, and he himself has compared the song to one of John Lennon’s – indeed Etzioni’s vocals remind us very much of Lennon’s, and the simple piano accompaniment is quite “Lennonesque”.<\/p>\n

The music video which goes along with the track was directed by Etzioni himself, and shows the artist sitting at the piano, shot from above, partially obscured by glass. The focus is not on him, but instead it’s on a model of the Statue Of Liberty – Lady Liberty – set against a harsh grey background, her torch aflame, against tyranny, standing tall, for all the world to see.<\/p>\n
