Nas, born Nasir Jones, has been working hard since 1994, making track after track, each one better than the last. His latest single, ’27 Summers’, is named for the all those years he’s been making his sick beats, and it’s the third track to come from his second studio album, the Grammy-nominated, ‘King’s Disease’. The long player has previously spawned the hits ‘Replace Me’, featuring Don Toliver and Big Sean, and ‘Spicy’, featuring Fivio Foreign and A$AP Ferg. How many more singles will come of that record is up to Nas; what is certain is that they’re as much pure gold as all the others.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

’27 Summers’ is an upbeat track about living your best life, while bearing in mind what it took for you to get there at the start. It’s nonetheless intriguing, with its deeper message, where Nas calls on more powerful roles for those in the black community, such as more black CEOs. The lyrics are wrapped tightly in a clean dance beat, which sees Nas marking the milestone he didn’t ever expect to reach. The multi layered song is one of those that gives you more each time you listen to it.<\/p>\n

There’s a whole lot of swag going on in the video for ’27 Summers’, which opens with a sweeping camera shot over a spiral staircase, sunlit, with Nas’s records hung on the walls. Nas, dressed in a simply divine teal suit, waits for his car, and performs in a strikingly decorated room, complete with chandelier. His car arrives, and the next scene sees DJ Khalid, on the golf course. The music drops off, and Khalid is hyping; it then returns and the guys finish their game and ride off in golf carts. Finally, Nas is riding through the city in the back of a convertible, surrounded by swaying palm trees. It’s been 27 summers of grind, but Nas has made it, as seen in this clip, perfectly matched for the song.<\/p>\n
