‘Animals’ is the new single from Hidden Beams, who you may recall from his previous single, ‘Hidden’, back in September<\/a>. The nom de plume of Carlos Argon, Hidden Beams’ style takes inspiration from the prog rock masters of the early 70s, while injecting his own melodic style, sense of rhythm, and novel chord stacking.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As with his previous releases, in ‘Animals’ Hidden Beams takes us on a musical journey. We travel across the ages, hearing Bowie (sooooo much Bowie), Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel era Genesis, early Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, and other prog-rock masters, yet performed in Argon’s own particular way.<\/p>\n

At not quite 3 minutes long, the track comes with a far out music video, with hypnotic, kaleidoscopic swirls, fractals, and luminescent colours swirling around Argon himself as the central figure. It’s enticing and disturbing at the same time – discordant, yet appealing.<\/p>\n

The video was created by Yoshi Sodeoka, who has done videos and concert visuals for Tame Impala, Max Cooper, among others. The clip serves as a visual metaphor for the very real altered states that Argon’s song generates for listeners. We implore you to listen at least once – but we feel you’ll want to hit that replay button again and again.<\/p>\n
