Joyann Parker is a great blues musician, and she uses her talent to express her own indomitable spirit, reinventing it to tell her own story. Her latest single, ‘Carry On’, is brilliantly sung by Parker, but it also serves as a showcase for her guitar playing, which is redolent of the Mississippi Delta, lyrical, fluid, and propulsive.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Parker works closely with a crew of top notch musicians, who, like her, know how to eke out every ounce of passion from a song, while at the same time bolstering her performance with their own contributions, full-bodied and powerful. Fresh yet traditional, this is the blues at their finest.<\/p>\n

Joyann is an absolute revelation when she gets up behind that microphone. She roars, she purrs, she soars with stratospherically high notes, and she likewise gets down low low low with an extraordinary vocal range. And behind all that awesomeness is an incredible song, with a story that’s itching to be told.<\/p>\n

The music video for ‘Carry On’ sees Joyann and her band bringing that confidence to the screen. There’s footage of Parker and her band, doing what they do best, performing, in an old barn, on a makeshift stage. But the song’s story is also told by Parker, and director Anthony Sylvers, that of people who were with us once, and are then, suddenly, gone. This is shown by the disappearance – often in the middle of conversations – of some of the vibrant, and lively people at this barn party. We aren’t given any clues as to where they’re gone, but we know for sure that wherever they are, they’re carrying on – somehow, somewhere.<\/p>\n
