Today, the group also announced details of a livestreamed ticketed show from Mullingar, Ireland\u2019s The Jealous Wall on December 1. Tickets are on sale today here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The curious location for the band\u2019s hometown show, in the grounds of Belvedere House & Gardens, might look like a castle ruin on the face of it, but behind it\u00a0lies a story of love, sorrow and farce that reads like a particularly unlikely Shakespearean caper. The Jealous Wall should provide a unique and special setting for the band\u2019s first live performance since the release of their most recent EP, Acting My Age<\/em><\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Vocalist Craig Fitzgerald<\/strong> explains, \u201cIt\u2019s been a really tough year for everybody in our industry. All we have known for the past couple of years is getting in a van or a bus or getting on a plane to play a show somewhere, and to have that massive void now it really does start to hit home how much we love what we do.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we talked about the idea of performing a live show with no audience and in the context of streaming, we knew we had to make it something unique and special so when the idea to play at The Jealous Wall came up we were really excited by it. It also gives us an opportunity to get a lot of people back to work including our crew who have been hit harder than most this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Academic<\/strong> opened 2020 at 100mph with the release of the Acting My Age<\/em><\/strong> EP; a sharp, buoyant and melody-heavy collection of guitar-shaped indie rock songs that suggested a confident young band right on the dusk of stardom. Already hometown heroes who count Rolling Stones as their fans, The Academic<\/strong> might have been forced to hit pause on their progress for the rest of the year, but when the fog eventually lifts, this band\u2019s apparent success is almost inevitable.<\/p>\n
