\u201cRock & Roll\u201d: A Detroit Story\u2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Alice Cooper releases \u201cRock & Roll\u201d today as a first taste of the upcoming studio album \u201cDetroit Stories,\u201d coming February 26th<\/sup>, 2021 on earMUSIC.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201cRock & Roll,\u201d a classic song by The Velvet Underground from the album \u201cLoaded,\u201d is not a casual choice: It’s a song of joy and celebration of that magical moment when we all first turned on Rock and Roll radio \u2026and it saved our lives.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Here are some interesting Detroit Stories for the fans of rock and roll trivia and<\/em> for those who believe that nothing happens by chance (especially in Detroit).<\/p>\n

In 1971, the Alice Cooper Group<\/strong> was working in Detroit, with producer Bob Ezrin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Around the same time, also in Detroit, a band called\u2026 Detroit, which featured Mitch Ryder, Johnny Bee and Steve Hunter, recorded a heavy new arrangement of Lou Reed\u2019s \u201cRock & Roll\u201d also produced by\u2026 Bob Ezrin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It was when he heard that version that Lou Reed decided to work with Ezrin<\/strong> on the follow-up to his monster hit album \u201cTransformer.<\/strong>\u201d Their collaboration produced the seminal and fascinating classic album \u201cBerlin.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

But wait, there\u2019s more.<\/p>\n

Steve Hunter, the amazing guitar player who created the iconic main riff that drives Detroit\u00b4s cover of the song in 1971, ended up working with Ezrin<\/strong> on many of his productions. He toured and recorded with Alice and with Lou Reed as well\u2026and that same riff is the backbone of this new recording of the song which was done in\u2026Detroit, of course.<\/p>\n

Alice Cooper<\/strong> and Lou Reed shared a relationship of mutual respect and friendship over the years. \u00a0Bob<\/strong> and Lou collaborated several other times and were dear friends for 40 years.<\/p>\n

Alice<\/strong> and Bob<\/strong> can\u2019t remember how many albums this is and have been creative partners for 50 years.<\/p>\n
