Lauren Hulbert, from Oakland, California, has been keeping her audiences spellbound for years now, with her enchanting combination of folk, alterative country-rock, and atmospheric semi-acoustic pop. Her folk arrangements are raw and real, drawing attention to her thoughtful lyrics, carefully considered melodies, and her stunning vocals. Lauren’s latest single, ‘Gone In One’, follows on from her 2017 release, ‘Beneath The Soil’, and comes ahead of her new album, ‘Superbloom’. On top of all that, the track is accompanied by her first proper music video.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

It’s genuinely surprising that there’s very little footage of Lauren online – there certainly should be, and hopefully with the ‘Gone In One’ clip there’ll be much more to come. It says a lot for her status as a low-key folk-pop artist; she’s more focused on the music than her image, and relies on the power of her storytelling lyrics, and melody. The video however should help the word spread about Lauren Hulbert, and take her from being a closely guarded secret in the Bay Area, to the superstar status she deserves.<\/p>\n

‘Gone In One’ is a far more meaty track than anything on ‘Beneath The Soil’ – Lauren performs the rhythm section on electric guitar – but her fans will definitely love the intensity of the confessional lyrics, and her poise will be instantly familiar. The video for ‘Gone In One’ follows Lauren through condensed versions of three relationships, none of which are right for her, and one of which threatens her independence. Her charisma and candour fill every frame she’s in, and it’s easy to see why she’s got such a reputation for performance; she’s magnetic. The clip ends as it starts, with Hulbert alone, with her guitar, on the railway line in Oakland. She’s wiser from her experiences, she’s self-possessed, and she’s ready to face the future, but only on her own terms.<\/p>\n
