Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Pennan Brae is right up there alongside such classic rock and blues storytelling songwriters as Elton John, Muddy Waters, BB. King, and Elmore James. The guitarist is also a screenwriter and filmmaker, and loves to poke fun at and celebrate the sound of the 80s. His latest single, ‘Crashland’, is the lead track from his album, ‘The Astronot’, which accompanies his film of the same name.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Written with Grammy nominee Eric Alexandrakis, ‘Crashland’ was mixed by producer Paul David Hager, and mastered by Grammy-winner, Emily Lazar, known for her work with David Bowie, and Beck, among others.<\/p>\n

Brae says that ‘Crashland’ is a very special track for him,<\/p>\n

“I got to work with 2 rock & roll legends. Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Eric Clapton) laid down drums & Garry Gary Beers of INXS played bass.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Legendary guitarists make legendary music, and from the very beginning you know it’s going to be something incredible, as it oozes pure rock and roll.<\/p>\n

The accompanying lyric music video tells both story and words on screen, and sees Pennan Brae teaming up with Tim Cash of Far From Earth Films. Cash also directed ‘The Astronot’ film, and so, in Brae’s words, “he knew the material inside out and backwards.” Fun scenes such as our hero exploring with a metal detector, and an exercise routine reminscent of Rocky, as well as a bike ride along a long desert road, and phone calls to – where else – another planet, ‘Crashland’ has everything you could hope for in a music video – and then some.<\/p>\n
