Nuke The Soup<\/a> has been on our radar for a couple of years now, the project headed Baltimore songwriter Mark Davison, who creates gritty and dynamic songs to share his deeply held beliefs on the Earth, humanity, and often complex intersection of the two. With a band which includes Bowie guitarist Gerry “Spooky Ghost” Leonard, and Chester Thompson, who’s drummed for Genesis, and Zappa, Nuke The Soup have wide-ranging influences, and make music that is deeply serious but at the same time, incredibly vital. Their latest single, ‘Oceans And Mountains’, comes from their most recent album, ‘Deeper’, which was produced by Kevin Killen (Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush), and assisted by Fugazi’s Brendan Canty.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Oceans and mountains seem like they shouldn’t have anything in common, but they’re linked by nature; rising sea levels increase flooding, worsen hurricane damage, and leach saltwater into tidal areas. Additionally this results in coastal erosion, and in turn, damage to mountains. Everything is connected. We enjoy nature, but if we don’t look after one aspect, the knock-on effect can harm others. Nuke The Soup’s latest single, ‘Oceans And Mountains’, with its jangly guitars and swelling organ, tells with conviction the story of environmental conservation, while remaining upbeat and somewhat joyous. The video contains imagery such as stunning shots of surf as the sun sets, and rolling mountain views. Children, and adults who forget their age, are found to be enjoying themselves in nature, spinning around in the warm breeze. It’s a clip which will remind all of us that we have only this planet to call home, and that now is the time to start looking after it.<\/p>\n
