Tris McCall’s ‘Almanac’ is a record of his voyage of discovery to find America. He is of the belief that everyone needs to discover it for themselves, he began in 2015, creating the songs and stories that are the results of his journey.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Inspired in part by one of his favourite books, ‘The Moviegoer’, by Walker Percy, Tris McCall’s latest single, ‘The Unmapped Man’ is accompanied by a music video directed by Rob Fitzgerald, and set in New Orleans, using vintage footage from the mid 20th century. Fitzgerald taps into the weirdness and allure of New Orleans, the weary grandeur that suggests a little haunting; and reminds us that in order to understand where now are, we have to remember where we’ve been…and who.<\/p>\n

The narrator of the song is a kid who’s come from a small town down South, and has come to NO to lose himself – and maybe get found. In both the song and the short story that goes along with it, McCall approaches topics such as fears of surveillance, heightened sexual ambiguity, the desire to go off grid, anticipation of the apocalypse, and most of all, the need of misfits to find a place they belong.<\/p>\n
