We have written about The Dead Daisies a number of times, so rather than spending more time on describing them here, we’ll refer you back to our previous articles about the band<\/a>. Suffice to say, they’re a supergroup collective of ferocious rockers you’ll definitely have heard of, who have found a common groove and voice which draws on their experience in their classic bands, and they’ve extended it into even more fantastic music. One thing we do need to add however, is that the group, already superb, have added to their number the incredible bassist and singer, Glenn Hughes, known for his work with Trapeze, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple. With one of the most distinctive vocal styles in popular music, combining power with a legendary range, he is going to take The Dead Daisies even higher than they’ve gone before. Latest single, ‘Unspoken’, sees Hughes show us what he’s made of: and we’re not disappointed.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

On top of his formidable vocal prowess, he’s no slouch on the bass, and alongside the guitars of Doug Aldrich on lead, and David Lowy’s rhythm, not to mention Deen Castronovo pulling it all together with his stupendous drumming talent, Hughes works hard to ensure that ‘Unspoken’ is the hands down best rock song you’re going to hear all year.<\/p>\n

‘Unspoken’ has been matched with a lyric video which takes the song’s growling menace and pairs it with a sense of fun. It’s not just a simple words on screen lyric video, but rather it’s a full scale production, just as much as any live-action video. The letters are bone-white and filled with motion. They sway to the music, and vanish, ghostlike, only to pop up on the horizon again. There’s a lot of playful symbolism as befitting any hard rock band – ravens, tombstones, haunted mansions, thunder and lightning, all pepper the clip to give the listener added interest.<\/p>\n
