Badly Drawn Boy, aka\u00a0Damon Gough, is set to make his eagerly awaited return with the release of a new album through AWAL on the 22nd of May 2020.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u2018Banana Skin Shoes\u2019\u00a0features fourteen brand new tracks including the political pop of current single, \u2018Is This A Dream?\u2019\u00a0and\u00a0sees Gough\u00a0pushing forward yet again both musically and lyrically whilst\u00a0retaining some of\u00a0his classic trademarks. The bulk of the album\u2019s production was completed at Eve Studios in Stockport last year with\u00a0producer\u00a0Gethin Pearson\u00a0(Kele Okereke, JAWS) who also mixed the whole record. Damon had previously worked on tracks for the album with legendary producer\u00a0Youth\u00a0(The Verve, Paul McCartney) at his studio in London,\u00a0Keir Stewart\u00a0(ex-Durutti Column) at Inch Studios and\u00a0Seadna McPhail\u00a0at Airtight Studios.<\/p>\n

Always one to wear his heart on\u00a0his sleeve, Gough\u2019s ninth album and first studio album in a decade is a truly personal and heartfelt collection of songs, a huge statement of intent and the most glorious, colourful warming, honest pop record you\u2019ll probably hear all year. From the blast of the opening title track and forthcoming single with its riotous Beck-meets-Beasties \u2018cartoony\u2019 hip hop throw down to the immaculately tailored closer,\u00a0 \u2018I\u2019ll Do My Best\u2019, a nod to his failings, a prayer to his partner and a lyrical tip of the hat to his hero Bruce Springsteen; this is the sound of a songwriter skipping between musical idioms and emotional extremes with a cool, calm confidence. The new single\u00a0\u2018Banana Skin Shoes\u2019\u00a0is out now and accompanied by an animated video by award-winning film directors\u00a0Broken Antler.<\/p>\n
